Meaning
Mechanical routing components direct the flow of granulated resin or finished parts along divergent paths within a manufacturing line. A diverter gate shifts position dynamically to channel scrap pieces to a granulator while sending acceptable parts to packaging. This component is typically positioned below the mould or along a conveyor line where sorting decisions are made in real time.
Accurate execution of this routing action prevents the accidental mixing of defective scrap and quality products.
Mechanical Flow
Moulded parts or resin streams arrive at the junction where the routing component divides the path. Depending on the signal from the inspection system, the diverter gate swings to block one exit and open the other. This movement must be rapid and positive to ensure that no material becomes trapped or misdirected during the transition.
Pneumatic Control
Pneumatic lines supply the force required to actuate the gate quickly. A solenoid valve controls the airflow, ensuring a response time of milliseconds when a scrap signal is received. This rapid actuation is necessary to handle high speed molding cycles where parts exit the mold every few seconds.
Scrap Reduction
Automatic segregation of runner systems from finished parts increases the efficiency of the recycling loop. By ensuring that only clean runner material reaches the regrind station, the routing system maintains high material purity.
