Meaning
Statistical boundaries define the acceptable range of variation for a process signal. Operators set a telemetry envelope curve to monitor the stability of injection pressure over time. Any signal that breaks these boundaries triggers an alarm or rejects the part.
The method provides a real time check of process health without requiring manual inspection of every part.
Process Monitoring
Data from previous successful cycles is used to build the reference curve. The telemetry envelope curve follows the shape of the pressure or position signal throughout the injection stroke. It provides a visual and digital target for every shot.
Defect Detection
Variations in material viscosity or heater performance cause the signal to shift. If the pressure exceeds the upper limit, the part might have flash. If it falls below the lower limit, the part is likely a short shot.
The system automatically diverts these suspect parts to a scrap bin.
Quality Threshold
Narrow limits are set for high precision parts where even small variations are unacceptable. Adjusting the width of the telemetry envelope curve allows the manufacturer to balance quality and yield. A wider curve accepts more variation but increases the risk of shipping a defective part.
Using this tool ensures that the process stays within the validated window.
