Meaning
Piezoelectric or strain gauge transducers installed in individual mould pockets provide real-time data on the internal forces exerted by the polymer. Multi cavity cavity pressure sensor refers to a network of sensors used to monitor each individual cavity in a high-volume injection mould. These devices track the transition from the injection phase to the packing phases by measuring the force at the gate or at the end of the flow path.
This data allows for the automatic separation of defective parts based on pressure deviations.
Decoupled Moulding
Strategies rely on the feedback from these sensors to switch from velocity control to pressure control at a specific threshold. Variations in melt viscosity or machine repeatability are compensated for by adjusting the hold time or pressure for each cycle. If one cavity fills differently than the rest, the system identifies the imbalance immediately.
This capability is essential for pharmaceutical or aerospace components with tight tolerances.
Comparing Pressure Curves
Analysis between different pockets reveals whether the runner system is delivering material uniformly. A multi cavity cavity pressure sensor setup shows if one gate is restricted or if thermal imbalances exist across the tool. Significant differences in peak pressure lead to variations in part weight and dimensions.
Correcting these imbalances reduces the scrap rate and improves the overall yield of the production run.
Data Integration
Digital signals are sent to the machine controller to gate out bad parts.
