Meaning
Tax incentive frameworks allow companies to temporarily import raw materials into Mexico for export without paying duties. The immex program facilitates the production of plastic components for the global market. It requires strict adherence to customs regulations.
Duty Deferral
Financial advantages come from the suspension of the value added tax on goods destined for re-export. Under the immex program, a moulder can import high grade virgin resins from global suppliers without an immediate cash outlay for taxes. This improves the cash flow of the operation by delaying or eliminating the tax burden associated with raw material procurement.
Inventory Tracking
Customs authorities require a precise account of every kilogram of material that enters and leaves the facility. Participating in the immex program necessitates the use of specialized software to link the imported resin lots to the finished parts shipped back across the border. Discrepancies in these records can lead to heavy fines or the permanent loss of the import license.
Export Requirement
Compliance is measured by the successful return of the processed goods to a foreign market within a specified timeframe. If parts produced under the immex program remain in the domestic Mexican market, the company must pay the deferred taxes and provide additional documentation. This boundary ensures that the incentives are used specifically to promote international trade and manufacturing growth.
